Edward Lehman vindicated!

Edward Lehman was previously committed to prison for 6 months suspended for 2 years for contempt of court. He appealed this decision and the Hong Kong Court of Appeal quashed the decision of the Court of First Instance.

When asked for a comment about the matter, Lehman said ‘It feels as if a heavy burden has been lifted from my shoulders. I am glad that justice has prevailed and that this blemish on my character has been removed.’

If the decision had remained in place, Lehman could have faced disciplinary action from the Bar where he is admitted as a lawyer in the USA. This, however, will now not occur.

Lehman’s accuser in the case, Russell Brown, will now need to pay for Lehman’s legal fees in respect of the appeal. Expenses for the proceedings at first instance were not awarded in Lehman’s favor as the legal representatives that he employed at the time failed to raise various issues with the court.
